Description
Serviceberry grows as a large shrub, or small tree. It produces berries that ripen to a purple color in June. The berries are edible and can be eaten raw or made into jams. It is also a great food source for mammals and birds. Native to the United States, they are fairly easy to grow. Also known as Juneberry.
My neighbors tree hangs over the water and the carp feed on the thousands of berries that fall in the water in the spring.
