Weeping willow is a fast-growing deciduous tree with graceful, long branches that sweep toward the ground. Weeping willows thrive in consistently moist or wet soil.

Description

Weeping Willow is a native of China but grows well over most of North America.

As a teenager I wanted to grow a weeping willow at my parents house but they wouldn’t let me because they were afraid it would drop branches and grow out of control. When I bought Porcupine Hollow the first tree I planted was a weeper. I planted it along the driveway where it crosses Slaughterhouse creek. Within 15 years the roots half filled the culvert and the creekwould overflow the drive in heavy rains. Sadly I had to remove the tree.
