Description

Siberian Elm are native to mid Asia from Korea, Mongolia and Russia. Sometimes called Chinese Elm.  It is kind of a small, scrubby tree. We had one at the big pink house visible in the far, left, upper first photo, and luckily the city cut it down while widening the road.

I suppose there are some uses for it but it is not one of my favorites. It tends to loose branches and gives little shade. I believe it became somewhat popular after the Dutch Elm blight came through Michigan in the late 60’s. Wait, I just thought of something good about Siberian Elm……… They do make good bonsai specimen.
