Sweet birch is also known as black birch or cherry birch and has a distinctive wintergreen fragrance. It supports butterflies, game birds, insect pollinators, songbird, and small mammals.

 

Description

Sweet Birch is native to the Appalachian mountains and the bark is darker than white Birch.  Also known as Cherry Birch, it grows on moist, well drained soils. It is best to plant the young seedlings in partial shade and as they develop they can handle more direct sun.
