Autumn Blaze Maple! aaaaah! If I had only one shade tree to plant it would be the autumn blaze. Fast growing, plenty of shade, tolerant of environmental conditions. The jack of all trades of the tree world. We planted one at the cottage around 2010 and is now about 40 foot tall and making our porch very livable in the summer. It is now about a foot in diameter. I might have planted my autumn blaze too close to the balcony so be sure you plan on how it will fit into your plans many years down the road. Our other maples.
