Description
Turkish Fir, sometimes known as Black Sea fir, is growing in popularity as an ornamental and as a Christmas trees. This is a fast-growing fir that is tolerant of warmer climates and native to Northwestern Turkey, in the mountains and around the Black Sea. These firs are a subspecies of the Nordmann fir.
We have grown Nordmann fir for quite a few years as seed becomes available. We still have a few larger landscape Nordmanns available. As with most exotic firs, plant only away from frost pockets but it is hardy to -30 F. Will grow on south slopes and dryer ground. This is quite possibly the next big fir for Christmas tree growers. These firs can attain a height of 250 feet or more. We have other firs that may be more suitable for your particular need. Fraser Fir or Concolor Fir are available this year.
