Allegheny Serviceberry has purplish blue berries and white flowers. The Serviceberry tree is a great food resource for mammals, birds, and is edible for humans – makes a wonderful jam!

Description

Allegheny Serviceberry grows in full sun or partial shade. It’s a rather smallish tree, topping out at about 35ft. It has beautiful white flowers in the spring and berries in early summer.

The purple berries are gobbled up by the birds but if you can beat them to it, they are good raw or in pies.
