Description
Red Sunset Maple is a cultivar of red maple. Not as fast of a grower as Autumn Blaze Maple. We planted an autumn blaze and a red Sunset at fish camp ( a vrbo on the west branch of the rifle river) and the autumn blaze after 15 years is nearly 40′ tall where the red Sunset is about 25′. Some of this difference may be to the soils moved around as this is the powerhouse caretakers house at the dam site. Red Sunset color in the fall is nothing short of spectacular with it’s long lasting brilliant color. The wood is strong and doesn’t drop branches like a silver maple would.
