Pawpaw tree is sometimes called Michigan Banana, Kentucky banana, paw paw or paw-paw is native to the Mid-west, south to the Gulf and north to Pennsylvania.
Michigan pawpaw tree is a small tree with a wonderful custard flavor healthy fruit. The fruit is sought after by many animals so watch carefully for ripeness. In the 60’s the Detroit Tigers baseball team had a hitter they called Ol’ Paw Paw, born in Paw Paw, Michigan.
