Description

Japanese Zelkova Tree (Zelkova serrata) is a large, deciduous tree native to Asia, growing fifty to eighty feet tall. Zelkova is in the elm family. It is a great substitute for the elm because of it’s resistance to the Dutch Elm disease. It has an attractive bark resembling honeycomb. In Japan, it is a valuable wood for commercial timber. The Japanese Zelkova makes a great specimen tree or shade tree. The village of Glendale, Ohio has some nice photos of larger Zelkova.
