Description
Japanese Black Pine are native to the coast of Japan and tolerate road salt well unlike White Pine. Black pine has a much coarser look than White Pine. They grow well in the States, are deer resistant and drought tolerant.
We do grow a few Black Pines to caliper sizes as they love to grow wonky and look good. The seedlings make good bonsai. North Carolina Extension Gardener has more great info on these great pines.
